Meet Aida

Aida Torres, FNP-C

Aida Torres, FNP-C, obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification in 2010 after graduating from Indiana Wesleyan
University with a Master of Science in Nursing. Prior to obtaining her certification, she worked as a nurse for 18 years in
various hospital units but quickly found out her passion was working with cardiac patients. This led to her desire for
advanced education to be able to offer more services. She started her career as a nurse practitioner working in cardiology
for Community Health Network in Indianapolis, Indiana. After working 10 years in Cardiology, she transferred to the
Center for Advanced Heart Care, where her role was caring for patients with congestive heart failure.

Although she enjoyed working with cardiac patients, she realized the treatment plan was not focusing on the root cause
of their multiple comorbidities but rather on the management of their symptoms. She was also enlightened when she
started seeing a functional medicine provider who discovered the root cause of her own health issues. This prompted her
to explore further education that focused on the root cause and whole person approach to health care. Hence, she
enrolled in the Institute of Functional Medicine Certification program and later the Priority Health Academy.

She is grateful for the opportunity to have joined Robinhood Integrative Health as a functional medicine nurse
practitioner. She enjoys working with a variety of patients with conditions including autoimmune disease, intestinal
permeability, hormonal imbalances, long covid, and many more. She has a special interest in preventative cardiology.
She firmly believes patients should be empowered to take an active role in their healthcare and be advocates for
themselves, as well as their family members. She also believes in treating patients like one would treat their own family,
establishing a relationship based on trust, compassion and respect.

Outside her role at Robinhood Integrative Health, Aida enjoys hiking, traveling, and co-leading a Military Parent Support
group with her husband. She has been married 32 years and is blessed with two adult children, as well as two grandsons.
She is actively involved in her church and believes complete healing incorporates mind, body and spirit. She is excited to
be a part of your health care journey.

FAQ

A doctor of integrative medicine is a physician who practices functional and holistic medicine. Doctors of integrative medicine believe in a whole person or systems approach to managing chronic ailments and preventing illnesses.  Their main focus is on addressing the underlying root cause of disease instead of just covering up symptoms.

Additionally, they believe patients ought to be educated about their conditions and have a better comprehension of their treatment plans and the motive governing the treatment plan. This is why longer (half an hour) office visits with our doctors are routine at Robinhood Integrative Health (RIH).

We have a great, well-trained team of healthcare providers that will do their best so you can experience health as it ought to be.

Honestly, not much.  Functional and integrative medicine can pretty much be used interchangeably.

They both strive to treat an individual as a whole and concentrate on developing personalized treatments tailored to treat and cure underlying causes of disease.  They also attempt to restore people to an optimal state of wellness not just an absence of disease.

Our providers have training in both Integrative and Functional Medicine and continue to learn.  Our providers pursue ongoing medical education about various topics including hormones, thyroid dysfunction, anti-aging, chronic infections, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, and IV therapies.  We strive to get better and more comprehensive every year.

We see patients as partners and work closely with you to ensure you’re receiving the treatments you need.

Our team of integrative health coaches can help with dietary and lifestyle changes to address specific concerns.  They work closely with the doctors/NPs to make sure the patients are able to acheive their health goals.
