Jason Steele, FNP-C, ONP, is board certified family medicine nurse practitioner (FNP) and a post-master’s trained orthopedic nurse practitioner (ONP). He graduated from Winston Salem State University with a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Post-Master’s as a FNP. He concurrently graduated from his second Post-Master’s from the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, CT. He is board certified FNP through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Jason’s journey to medicine began during his U.S. Marine Corps career. During his time as an infantry Marine he became a Wounded Warrior medically retired from the USMC due to significant cardiac disease and pulmonary debilitation. During his medical journey he became frustrated with poor understanding and ambivalent medical systems that failed to demonstrate understanding and compassion for their patients. This prompted him to study and practice medicine with an emphasis on serving others and making them feel cared for. He was mentored by his Naval Cardiologist, Dr. Sumption, to join the field of medicine and encouraged him to begin his career as a nurse to gain firsthand service and experience in caring for patients.
Jason began his practice practicing general orthopedic surgery, trauma surgery, but specialized in Hand and Upper Extremity. He also worked in Family Medicine as a traditional PCP.
Jason’s passion is teaching, empowering, and guiding his patients to better health and wellness and helping them to be the stewards of their health.
A doctor of integrative medicine is a physician who practices functional and holistic medicine. Doctors of integrative medicine believe in a whole person or systems approach to managing chronic ailments and preventing illnesses. Their main focus is on addressing the underlying root cause of disease instead of just covering up symptoms.
Additionally, they believe patients ought to be educated about their conditions and have a better comprehension of their treatment plans and the motive governing the treatment plan. This is why longer (half an hour) office visits with our doctors are routine at Robinhood Integrative Health (RIH).
We have a great, well-trained team of healthcare providers that will do their best so you can experience health as it ought to be.
Honestly, not much. Functional and integrative medicine can pretty much be used interchangeably.
They both strive to treat an individual as a whole and concentrate on developing personalized treatments tailored to treat and cure underlying causes of disease. They also attempt to restore people to an optimal state of wellness not just an absence of disease.
Our providers have training in both Integrative and Functional Medicine and continue to learn. Our providers pursue ongoing medical education about various topics including hormones, thyroid dysfunction, anti-aging, chronic infections, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, and IV therapies. We strive to get better and more comprehensive every year.
